Caged Bear: The Marcus Dinanga puzzle

MACHEL HEWITT: Numerous National League clubs will be shopping for a proven goal-scorer when the winter transfer window opens, and it would be surprising if Marcus Dinanga’s name isn’t on their list.

When Bromley started the season with a strike force of Michael Cheek and Marcus Dinanga, it made sense.

Dinanga had looked sharp in pre-season, which was all the more eye-catching given he hadn’t played a competitive fixture for Bromley since late September 2024.

If you recall, an Achilles tendon injury suffered against MK Dons put Marcus on a long road to recovery and curtailed his 24/25 season. That road ended spectacularly when he notched four goals in the first home game of pre-season against Tottenham Hotspur U21s. Another goal in pre-season followed, and further sprightly performances meant that, when the season kicked off away at Shrewsbury Town, he had deservedly worked his way into Andy Woodman’s starting XI.

That day, he had a goal disallowed and generally put himself about well, dovetailing nicely with Cheek. His first goal of the season arrived at home to Fleetwood Town as he once again started alongside Cheek.
