Bromley utilised the full extent of their squad across two games, as half of the first team secured a 2-1 win over a Chelsea XI, while the remaining members ventured to newly promoted Conference South side Horsham to battle out a hard-fought 0-0.
Both games offered crucial minutes as Andy Woodman’s side ramp up their preparations for the new season. With no eyes on the ground in Horsham, this write-up will focus on the action at Hayes Lane.
Bromley’s new home kit is better in the flesh than I initially gave it credit for. A more traditional white and black trim is augmented with the return of black numbers on the shirts. For erstwhile journalists like me, being able to see the numbers is a major change. Making sense of gold numbers under the floodlights was a mug’s game.
Omar’s headed equaliser was a reminder of the goal threat he poses, and not just from set pieces. The giant defender has scored 16 goals in his Bromley career.
