In Review: Accrington Stanley 0 - 1 Bromley

ANDY HAMMOND: Perhaps the best performance came from the 137 travelling fans, with a special mention for the younger contingent who embraced the fancy dress theme wholeheartedly. How could we lose with Jesus turning up to support us?

Before this match, a wave of good form had put Bromley comfortably in the play-off places. The question was whether they could ride that wave home from the wilds of Lancashire.

Sometimes, the league table is a liar. At a glance, Accrington are ensconced in the lower reaches of the league, but look closer and you’ll see that, ahead of this game, they were one of the league’s in-form teams. Go deeper still and you’ll find defensive stats that are right up there with the front-runners.

This all pointed towards Saturday’s game being a tight encounter, and it was, but Bromley took care of business with a performance underpinned by determination and self-belief. It could have just as easily ended in a stalemate, but Deji Elerewe’s late winner was the fine margin that turned one point into three.

Read on for my observations from the fancy dress zone.
