After one year, five months and three days, Bromley’s unbeaten home league record is no more, and it fell in miserable fashion.
Fans who hoped Saturday’s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday would be Bromley’s only major bump in the road were forced to think again. One battering is hard to take on its own, let alone two within the space of four days.
Fortress Hayes Lane had stood firm against EFL opponents for 27 league games, but Tuesday night saw the stadium walls breached in a way that neither Andy Woodman nor the newest generation of fans had ever seen before.
The last time the Ravens conceded five in a domestic league game on home soil was in February 2017, when Braintree knocked five past a nine-man Neil Smith side. The opening goalscorer that night was a 25-year-old Michael Cheek.
