In Review: Wigan Athletic 3 - 2 Bromley

MACHEL HEWITT: The human condition operates on the notion of hope and a brighter tomorrow. Any statement selling that dream might go a long way to restoring the feeling.

The last time I stopped enjoying watching Bromley was during Lloyd Hume and Alan Walker’s brief reign as joint managers in 2003/04.

My disquiet had nothing to do with the style of play or watching the Ravens lose; it was the bad vibes and the sense that what was going on wasn’t very Bromley-like, not like the Bromley I knew, anyway.

There was a disconnect between the terraces and the direction the club was taking, and this was new to me.

In my 30 years at Hayes Lane, by and large, Bromley fans have shown themselves to be a loyal bunch who don’t really kick up a stink and fiercely back their managers and teams. For that reason, it is very noticeable when the atmosphere universally sours.
