It was all change at Newport on the 20th November as they responded to their disastrous start to the season with a managerial swap.

After just six months in charge, David Hughes was relieved from his duties, opening the door for former Austrian international Christian Fuchs, who won the Premier League with Leicester in 2016.

This is Fuchs’ first managerial post, having spent two years as an assistant coach at Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer. As first jobs go, it’s an interesting one to pick. Pre-season betting odds had Newport down as relegation candidates, and so far they’ve lived up to that billing. But there is still time for them to prove everyone wrong.

Since Fuchs arrived at the club, Newport have picked up 6 points from a possible 21, but there are signs that green shoots may be sprouting.
