Damola Ajayi has joined on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, which means another former Bromley boy has returned to the place where it all began.
Isn't it funny how many returning youngsters talk about their fond memories of the club? I don’t think that’s a coincidence, and I suspect Steve Aris played a large part in it.
In Damola’s case, he was a member of Bromley’s U13 Kent Youth League set up before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2022. Having risen through the ranks at Spurs, the young attacker now has a senior goal to his name and a Europa League winners' medal.
At 20 years old, he has reached an age where, if you aren’t cemented in the first team, loans tend to happen. He spent the first half of the season at Doncaster Rovers in League One, but a lack of playing time meant he was recalled so he could be loaned out again. This time, Tottenham’s loan manager decided he should return home to Bromley.
