Besart Topallaj can count himself somewhat unlucky to have fallen out of favour at Hayes Lane.

His downfall began when Idris Odutayo joined Bromley from Fulham on the 1st February 2024. It took the new full-back a month to earn his first start away at Oldham Athletic, a spot that opened up for him after Topallaj was needlessly sent off in the dying minutes of a 2-0 home win against FC Halifax Town.

Bes only played another two games in the remainder of the 23/24 season. But it’s worth remembering that he played thirty-six National League games in that promotion season, rightly earning him a promotion-winner’s medal when his teammates secured victory at Wembley.

Going into Bromley’s first season in the EFL, there was always a question mark over how Andy Woodman would incorporate two wing-backs who wanted first-team football.
