I wasn’t supposed to be at my desk today writing this piece. I should be standing in the George Wakeling stand, applauding Andy Woodman as he strides over to take his place in front of the home dugout. But then Bromley had their fixture with Wycombe postponed due to international call-ups, because apparently there are multiple international footballers in their squad these days. That’s another significant milestone in an extraordinary footballing story.

You won’t find me being disparaging about the international break, because it was an international break that helped me to become emotionally invested in one of the most remarkable rags-to-relative-riches tales that English football has ever seen.
