Getting it Dunne the right way at Tonbridge

MACHEL HEWITT: When we praise Andy Woodman for Bromley’s history-making since 2021, Alan Dunne’s name should be put on a pedestal alongside him. Dunne now gets his chance to prove he can replicate that success elsewhere.

It goes without saying that Alan Dunne is a Millwall legend, and his reputation in the game precedes him. While his departure from Bromley cast a small cloud, his place in Ravens folklore is more than secure, firstly due to his contribution on the pitch (38 appearances), but more for his service as first team coach and assistant manager over a seven-year stint.

In fact, when we praise Andy Woodman for Bromley’s history-making since 2021, Alan Dunne’s name should be put on a pedestal alongside him.

His mutual departure from Bromley in February came out of the blue, and only Alan and those in the know can say with any certainty how it came about. Even so, the vast majority of Bromley fans are wishing him well as he begins his new managerial role at Tonbridge Angels.

“I enjoyed my time away from the game. When I left Bromley, the intention was to take a year out, but people warned me that after six months, I would miss it. I feel grateful for being able to do things like playing golf, taking up Padel, and spending quality time with my family, but when the new season came around, I started to get the bug back. I knew I wanted to get back in.”
