By all accounts, this EFL Cup encounter represents the biggest club to play Bromley at Hayes Lane in a competitive fixture.

When you drop Ipswich’s name, you’re talking about the First Division champions of 61/62, the FA Cup winners of 77/78, and the UEFA Cup champions of 80/81. Even if Bromley’s new blood see those titles as older than Dad’s Army, they will of course recognise Ipswich as a recently relegated Premier League club.

Their unsuccessful one-season stay in England’s top flight has come with the bonus of relegation parachute payments, which they are using to build a squad capable of achieving an immediate return. For that reason, they are a lot of pundits' promotion favourites.

While they lost Liam Delap to Chelsea, the rest of their squad remains largely intact, and high-profile acquisitions like Chuba Akpom (Ajax), Azor Matusiwa (Rennes), and Jens Cajuste (Napoli) add impressive quality in depth.
