Preview: Bromley vs AFC Wimbledon

MACHEL HEWITT: Not only did Bromley do the league double over the Dons last season, they shut them out on both occasions, winning 2-0 at Hayes Lane then 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Plough Lane.

When they faced the four teams who clinched promotion from League Two last season, Bromley took 13 points from a possible 24.

Six of those 13 came against AFC Wimbledon. Not only did Bromley do the double over the Dons, they shut them out on both occasions, winning 2-0 at Hayes Lane then 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Plough Lane.

Wimbledon are painfully familiar with getting ‘Bromleyed’, and while they might be plying their trade in League One this season, this fixture presents an intriguing prospect.

As ever with Vertu Trophy games, it is hard to second-guess line-ups as both sides will stretch the limits of the competition’s rotation rules. Andy Woodman has made it clear that he wants his side to progress, but I don’t correlate that with him playing his strongest side. I would be shocked if the likes of Michael Cheek, Grant Smith, and Mitchell Pinnock were in the starting XI.
