Does any manager know Bromley better than Paul Cook?
It’s got to the point now where Bromley vs Chesterfield feels like a derby match without the geographical context. Fifteen competitive fixtures have taken place between the two sides since November 2018, and Paul Cook has been in the opposing dugout for eight of them.
Most interestingly, only four of the fifteen fixtures have been won by more than one goal, if there has been a winner at all. The point here is clear. This is a genuine top-tier fixture between two upwardly mobile squads.
Last season, both promoted sides had great campaigns, with Chesterfield achieving a play-off finish before losing the semi-final to Walsall. Falling short will have given Paul Cook pause for thought, and when the summer window opened, he wasted no time in reshaping his squad with the league’s top prizes in mind.
