Bring up the subject of youth football with the club’s coaches and you’ll come away with the impression that the future is bright at Hayes Lane. And given how Bromley B and Bromley U18s are performing this season, you can see why everyone is so upbeat.

Last Friday, the U18s made yet more history when they defeated Sheffield Wednesday to reach the FA Youth Cup fourth round. Bromley B, meanwhile, go into their final Premier League Cup group game against Norwich City on Friday with the chance to achieve manager Ross McNeilly’s goal of reaching the last sixteen of the competition.

The future is bright. The future is Bromley.

While I couldn’t make it to Hayes Lane for the U18 game on Friday night, I found time in the calendar to hop to Hayes Lane to watch Bromley B play Colchester United’s U21s on Monday night.
