When Taylor Foran signed a year ago, Bromley fans could be mistaken for thinking it was a major coup. Here was yet another U21 talent from the Arsenal set-up, arriving at Bromley with the fanfare and expectation that comes with having such a big name on your CV.

None of that is Taylor’s fault, but as we’ve seen with Alex Kirk, Kido Taylor-Hart, and Maldini Kacurri, having the reputation and skill set gifted by an elite Premier League academy doesn’t automatically translate to opportunities in the National League or League Two with Bromley.

Alex Kirk might be wondering why he is still in the National League with Sutton United after helping Bromley to promotion in 23/24. When his Arsenal contract expired last summer, despite concrete interest from Andy Woodman, Alex and his agent decided to play the market. Better offers were not forthcoming, and he ended up back in the National League.

Kido Taylor-Hart had to leave the country after making only nine appearances for Bromley while on loan, of which only two were starts. When he left Arsenal last summer, he was without a club for six months before joining Greek second division side PAS Giannina. Thirty days later, he moved to Zemplín Michalovce of the Slovak Super League, where he has become a nailed-on starter alongside fellow Arsenal ejectee Ben Cottrell.
