If you don’t have anything more than a passing interest in the Women’s team, can you claim to be a fan of Bromley Football Club?
It has taken some time for the wider football community to embrace the women’s game at all levels, but there can be no denying its exponential growth over the last five years.
In England, this has been helped in no small part by the Lionesses, who went back-to-back in the summer with victory at the Euros, beating World Cup champions Spain in the final. That nerve-racking game, complete with its compelling penalty shoot-out finale, gave women’s football an even bigger shot in the arm.
Off the back of that, the club announced that entrance to Bromley Women’s first home game of the season would be free of charge, acting as both a community event and a celebration of Lionesses’ success. On Sunday 17th August, this great initiative was rewarded with a very healthy crowd of 683 as the women took to the field for their first home game of the 25/26 season.
