Nathan Paul-Lavaly: Bromley’s Next Academy Success Story?

Circa three years ago, I ventured to Hayes Lane to watch Bromley U18s in their FA Youth Cup second-round tie against Ipswich Town. While the young Ravens fell to a narrow defeat, they put in a performance that made it almost impossible to say which of the two teams was the established Football League academy.
In the team that day, among others, were Frankie Hvid, Sam German, and Nathan Paul-Lavaly.
Hvid has since moved on, first to Millwall, and then to Glentoran in the Northern Irish Premiership, where he racked up over 2,000 minutes last season. The latter two, however, stayed at Hayes Lane and are now considered to be among the brightest prospects in Bromley’s pipeline, with Paul-Lavaly making his EFL debut last season.
The Youth Cup game stands out in my mind because of a conversation I had on the day with Jamel Wojtczak (then U18 coach, now U21 coach) and Bromley CEO Mark Hammond. Both indicated that the game’s standout player, and the one to watch going forward, was full-back Nathan Paul-Lavaly.
