The modest size of a football club’s reputation can be greatly offset by its location, and Bromley are a prime example. The club sits at the heart of London’s largest geographic borough, and perhaps its leafiest, but its biggest selling point is its proximity to the footballing hotbed of South London.
Talented players who are drawn to the bright lights of London (have you seen Downham at night?) can be convinced to consider Bromley when better financial possibilities exist further afield.
Most recently, Bromley have been able to convince Zech Medley and Jesse Debrah to join on loan, thanks in no small part to their South London roots. And then there are players with pre-existing roots at the football club, like Damola Ajayi and Ben Krauhaus, who were no doubt swayed to sign loan terms by the promise of home comforts.
A cursory look at Bromley’s permanent and loan signings in recent seasons shows the quality and evolution of the London-centric talent that the Ravens have been able to take advantage of.
